About Us The National Institute for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured is a public, non profit organization, sponsored by the Rehabilitation Division of the Defense Ministry and the National Insurance Institute. In operation since 1975, the institute provides post acute, community based, neuropsychological rehabilitation services to a varied population of patients with acquired brain injuries, aged 15-60. The etiologies of the brain injuries include cerebral cranial injuries, traumatic brain injuries, closed head injuries, post concussion syndrome, cerebral vascular accident, post operative states, anoxia and other acquired CNS diseases. Referrals are accepted from welfare and medical institutes as well as on private basis.The institute operates two branches in the central and northern regions of Israel and provides the following services: 1. Comprehensive neuropsychological assessment. 2. Neuropsychological and cognitive-rehabilitation day centers. 3. Individual rehabilitation counseling and psychotherapy. 4. Pre-vocational rehabilitation workshops. 5. Sheltered occupation workshops. 6. Family and marriage counseling
The institute’s staff includes rehabilitation and neuro-psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, placement workers, teachers, vocational instructors, speech and art therapists and psychiatric consultants. The institute also provides pre and post-doctoral internships to Israeli as well as foreign students in the fields of rehabilitation psychology and clinical neuropsychology. Research interests include: Late effects of traumatic brain injuries, outcome follow-up, effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation, neuropsychological assessment of frontal-lobe functions.
